Prerequisites
Before connecting Linode to PloyWP, ensure you have:
Linode Account
An active Linode account with billing enabled. Get $100 credit for new accounts
API Token
A Personal Access Token with Read/Write permissions for Linodes
Payment Method
Valid payment method on file for server charges (billed hourly by Linode, capped at monthly rate)
Creating Your Linode API Token
Important Security Note
Your API token provides full access to your Linode account. Keep it secure and never share it publicly. PloyWP encrypts and stores your token securely.
Navigate to API Tokens
Log in to your Linode Cloud Manager and click on your profile icon in the top right, then select "API Tokens", or go directly to cloud.linode.com/profile/tokens
Create Personal Access Token
Click the "Create a Personal Access Token" button to start creating a new API token.
Configure Token Settings

Expiry:
Select "Never" or set a custom expiration date (we recommend "Never" for continuous deployments)

Images
Object Storage
PloyWP requires Read/Write access to Linodes for server management, Images for snapshots, and Object Storage for backups
Copy Your Token
⚠️ Copy your token immediately! It will only be shown once.
After clicking "Create Token", your new Personal Access Token will be displayed. Copy it and save it securely. You'll need this token to connect Linode to PloyWP.
Connecting Linode to PloyWP
Once you have your API token, follow these steps to connect Linode:

Navigate to Settings → Cloud Providers in your PloyWP dashboard

Click "Add Provider" and select Linode

Enter a friendly name (e.g., "My Linode Account")

Paste your API token and click "Connect"

PloyWP will verify the connection and display available regions
Connection Successful!
Once connected, you can start deploying WordPress sites to Linode's global infrastructure immediately.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting
API Token Authentication Failed
If you receive an authentication error when connecting Linode:
- • Ensure you copied the entire token without spaces
- • Verify the token has Read/Write permissions for Linodes
- • Check if the token has expired (if expiration was set)
- • Ensure Images and Object Storage scopes are also enabled
Linode Creation Failed
If server creation fails during deployment:
- • Check your Linode account has a valid payment method
- • Verify you haven't reached account limits
- • Ensure the selected region has capacity available
- • Try a different region if specific region fails
SSH Connection Timeout
If PloyWP can't connect to your Linode server:
- • Allow 2-3 minutes for server initialization
- • Check Cloud Firewall isn't blocking SSH (port 22)
- • Verify server status is "Running" in Linode Manager
- • Ensure network helper is enabled for the server
